Wildlife Rescue & Sanctuary Tour
Kids Saving the Rainforest
2 Hours, includes guide, refreshments, & snacks
Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR) is a non-profit organization founded in Manuel Antonio by two 9 year old girls: Janine & Aislin. In 1998, they sold painted rocks at a roadside table with the hope of raising enough money to save the endangered red-backed squirrel monkey (mono titi), a subspecies found nowhere else in the world other than Manuel Antonio area. KSTR planted trees and put up 130 blue monkey bridges, all in hopes to preserve our wildlife in the future.
Today their hope is to help educate everyone about preserving the rain forest and rehabilitate orphan animals and injured wildlife so they can go back into the wild. Many of the animals, like Nina, a Spider Monkey they found as a house pet with only one arm, would never survive without the help of KSTR.
KSTR just expanded their tour to include their Vet Tech feeding rescue animals that are not normally seen by the public since they will be released back into the rain forest. Their Vet Tech will also give a talk and take questions about the animal being shown (through a glass window for the animal’s protection). Animals shown could vary, so when you book your tour feel free to ask what animal you will get to view.
Their goal is to help ensure the survival of our magical wildlife, which is such a huge part of Manuel Antonio’s attraction. Learn about Costa Rica’s monkeys and other wildlife by taking a Monkey Feeding tour. You’ll also hear first-hand about each personal story of the wildlife that lives at the KSTR sanctuary and the ones that have been rehabilitated and released back into the wild. Proceeds of this tour go back into saving our precious wildlife and rain forest.
